Popular Home Decor Trends for Spring 2020

Posted by on

If you feel like your home needs a refresh, you’re in luck, because there are lots of great home décor trends to choose from this year.

Spring is a great time to do your “spring cleaning” and freshen your home up for the warmer months. And this spring most of us likely have a bit of extra time to be at home, so we may as well take advantage of it.  We’ve picked out some of our favourite décor trends we’ve started to see around. Pick out one of these trends and run with it in a room or two, or incorporate a few different trends throughout your entire house.

Dark Blue

Classic blue was chosen as Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year and is a great addition to your home this Spring. Navy has long been the colour thought of when it comes to nautical style — which is always popular to bring into your home during the warmer months.

We’ve seen entire rooms painted in this deep, dark blue colour, or sometimes just as an accent wall in a room or two. If that feels like too much you can always just add in a navy chair or a few deep blue accessories to a room.

Colour & Contrast

For the last few years, white has been popular — especially for kitchens and bathrooms. But now we’re seeing pops of vibrant colour creep in. Get cabinets in that classic blue that’s hot this year, or go bold with a red kitchen island. And if you don’t want to go too bold and bright, add in some black trim or accents for some contrast to the white you’ve still got.

Natural Wood

If bold pops of colour aren’t your thing, another great option to add in some contrast to your all white space is natural wood. Wood cabinets, shelves, and even entire walls add a warm touch to your stark white room as well as bring an element of airy nature into your home.

Throwback Furniture

The 60s and 70s are making a comeback when it comes to home furnishings and one home décor piece we’re starting to see everywhere is curved sofas. These pieces are designed as a modern twist to an old style and look great in any space. They’re available in a variety of colours and sizes so find one (or two!) that work in your room(s).

Elegant Free-Standing Tubs

Let’s all take some extra time for self-care right now! And one great way to do that is by taking a relaxing bath. So, it’s great to see elegant freestanding tubs take centre stage in bathrooms right now. It doesn’t matter if it’s a traditional clawfoot tub or a modern flat bottom tub, pick the one you love and make it the focal point of your bathroom. And enjoy it!

Cozy Touches

Another great way to add self-care into your space is to make your space cozy! Incorporate this in your bedroom, living room, family room, or all throughout your home. Choose furniture made from luxurious materials such as velvet, and soft imperfect leathers or simply use lots of cushions and throw blankets to soften and cozy up your space.

We hope you’ve found some great inspiration for freshening up your home decor this spring. If you have any other questions about what trends we’re seeing these days as well as what’s up with Victoria real estate please contact us today!
