Have You Found the Right Home? Here’s How to Know

Posted by on

We know it can feel overwhelming to search for a new home. There are a lot of different, yet equally fantastic homes in the Victoria real estate market.

And when you see a house you do like, is there any way to know if it’s truly the home you should buy? We’ve got a few ways for you to know for sure.

You Can Check Off Everything On Your List – And More

Your REALTOR® shouldn't be wasting your time showing you homes that don’t meet your criteria in the first place. But there could be a house you've looked at that checks all your boxes — even the ones you didn’t know you had.

You Can Afford It

Sometimes, you find our dream home, but it’s a bit out of your price range. You bargain with yourself that you can simply borrow more money or have a longer mortgage, but realistically, it'll be a financial hardship to buy that home.

Hopefully, you've sat down with your lender and know the price range you should be looking at for your dream home.

You Want to Stop Looking at Houses

It’s often tempting to “see what else is out there” on the housing market, but often, when you find the home that’s right for you, that all changes. When you find the home, other houses become unimportant.

You Love the Location

Sure, you may have found a house you love that fits all your needs. But what if it’s in an area you don’t like?

Remember, you and your family need access to work, schools, recreation, and other activities. If this house is too far away from those or is in a neighbourhood you get a bad feeling about, you should keep looking for a home in a better area for you.

You Can’t Wait to See the Inside

When you pull up to the front of the house, you should feel a sense of attraction and a pull to check out the rest of the property. If you find yourself wishing you could look at the house next door or across the street, chances are the house you’re about to look at isn’t the house for you.

You Feel Very Comfortable in the Home

Walking into any unfamiliar home can feel a bit strange. So, if you actually feel like you’re at home the moment you walk in the door, there's a good chance this home will be a good fit for you.

If you’re not inclined to start opening closets or do more than take a quick peek into the bathroom, this is a sign to keep looking at other homes.

You Can See Your Furniture Fitting Into the Rooms

If you’re looking around a house for sale and you automatically start plotting where your furniture is going to go into each room, it means you can really imagine your family living there happily.

You Can’t Imagine Not Being Able to Buy the House

If you see a home that checks all your boxes and hits all the above points, it’ll be hard to walk away from it. Instinctively, you know you should probably think about it for a day or two, but you just can’t imagine losing out on this home.

If the thought of someone else buying the home makes you actually feel a bit sick, then you may have found the right home for you and your family.

You Trust Your MLS REALTOR®

Your REALTOR® should only be showing you houses they know fit your criteria. And they shouldn’t be showing you homes with many flaws — unless you're specifically looking for a fixer-upper.

So, if your REALTOR® says it’s a gem, and you love it, it may be time for you to stop your search.

If you choose to work with us at the Garman Group, you know we’ll only show you houses that have everything you require. Contact us with any questions you have or to start your Victoria real estate search.
